The Aagitator Diego Rivera

A tapestry woven on a knife

About tapestries, as well as the one mentioned by his friend Red, I would like to bring to the attention of the friends of the blog and another earliest example of such artistic products, exemplary of which is track during the fifteenth century with a character that "The Lady of the village" mentions in passing in the first few pages. The character in question is the Knight Antoine de La Sale, who, on May 18, 1420, go on a Monti Sibillini, going right into the cave where the legend wanted to stay, as the Apennine Sibyl, Dominica, queen of the fairies and protector of the place and giver of archaic knowledge, especially related to the virtues of medicinal and therapeutic herbs.
Antoine de La Sale is said to have made the journey in italic districts to act on the wishes expressed by the Duchess of Bourbon, eager to learn from the most popular voices in some news about the mysterious Sibyl and also verify that the mountains of the area, surrounding Lake Pilate, were those represented nell'arazzo in his possession. In fact, the tapestry reproduces, albeit in a stylized way, the characteristic profile of Monte Sibilla and the one on Mount Carrier that opposes the first.
Now that the design of a tapestry in itself has caused such a curiosity in the soul of the Duchess Agnes de Bourbon, to the point of pushing the proper de La Sale to venture into a long and uncertain outcome, playing well strange. Unless you give credit to the hypothesis that the echo of the Apennine Sibyl el'alone of mystery that surrounded the icon at the time had much more resonance than you are willing to concede today.
therefore every reason to think that the charm of an archaic Feminine has never switched off completely in the flow of time and perhaps it is no coincidence that the ancient alchemists attach to their enigmatic science attribute lady par excellence. It will also be why, according to legend, the alchemists led to devote their texts on the shores of the lake because of Pilate, propitious for the stars and the magical influence of the Lady, the same texts that open up or tighten the locks and the secrets their owners to prove the mysteries of science otherwise impenetrable.
charm and magic of a time gone by.
Today human beings are too distracted and too emancipated to give credence to the myth and to devote their attention to a piece of evidence considered, perhaps too casually, a residue of infantile humanity gullible.

Snorting Bull Artwork

Write myth to live or live to write?

time ago, when I still had not reached full maturity (I was pretty much around the thirties), my host was a friend of a lot ahead of me over the years. The character in question depicted a life and was also quite said, and in fact some of his paintings have already occupied the rooms of famous museums in the world. However, in my naive spontaneity, I committed the imprudence of appeal "painter." Him if he had not recently (among other things was terribly touchy) and did not lose a moment to let me note how the term was inappropriate.
- I'm an artist - said the sting - not a painter. But maybe you do not know the difference between a painter and an artist. You know - went on air from teacher forced by circumstances to explain a universal reputation of res judicata - that a painter paints what he sells, while an artist paints what he sells.
Years later I will be seeking the problem, although in different terms. Paraphrasing
away my guest, I would say that, similarly, there is a difference between pennaiolo and a writer in the sense that the pennaiolo writes novels that sell, and sells a writer who writes novels. Pushing further the difference, you could still say that the pennaiolo writes for a living and the writer lives to write.
And who does not belong to either category?
the undersigned, for instance, does not write for a living (luckily for me) and even live to write (again for my good fortune, life has been built around a backbone that is sufficient in itself to fill it with meaning). And in fact I do not like to call myself a writer, but rather prefer to speak to me as a vehicle of ideas and feelings that are expressed through stories told.
I write to give expression to the ideas and feelings that go through me when I imagine the events, characters, scenes, dialogues.
all.
And you? You who read, do you think?

Small Company Anniversary Speech

High School March 8: A meeting to remember

face not less than one hundred and fifty young students, although on two occasions, it is not just an experience, especially when it is separated by a jump of two generations, and when the argument is perhaps the one that can meet their immediate interests.
Before the meeting I had thought that the most insidious barrier would be determined by the language. I admit that they are not accustomed to the way of communicating the teen-ager and the big fear was not to be able to establish an age pervaded by the turmoil of rapid change the essential bridge to link the banks of two worlds distant objects. Not so.
The strength of youth is overwhelming and contagious and it was really a matter of a few moments to get in tune with them and establish a empathize visible - so it seemed - in the great attention that the young students of high school on March 8 have demonstrated during the conversation. I have to imagine that live hear what can cause an author to write a novel as the idea that then translates into the fabric of the narrated events, how to build the characters, has been for all of them the opportunity to enter a dimension which, as readers, live and experience the final product: the book.
I have no difficulty in admitting that I probably have received from them much more than has been able to provide. I will stay inside, like a living example of that experience and significant, the moment when, having reached the end, a girl who prevented her from making a temporary aphonia aloud the question came up to me to ask:
"How is it possible for a boy his age and came to think, talk a girl and act my age? "
Obviously the question is not gone unanswered. However that question, in the purity of immediacy and authenticity obviously his youth, led me to reflect and come to the conclusion that the experience of different age is not buried by time and is ready to emerge on the surface even if we keep the 'humility to want to savor. But I'd
that the impressions from the meeting are the same young people who participated to make their voices heard ... So, do not be hesitant to intervene. I'm waiting ...
